Springfield now has an Apple Store. Bart culture-jammed a speech by Steve Jobs, and was chased out of the mall by an angry mob of Apple fanatics wielding iPod earbuds.
I wish I had an iPod like Lisa's. It could morph from a classic with click wheel, to a touch.
Steve Jobs' office (at the bottom of the sea; narwhals swam by when he was speaking) was pretty cool too.
Engadget.com's comment on the Apple segment.
It eventually reached my office. I am content. All is well.
Out of curiosity, I checked Fed-Ex again. My iPod left Anchorage AK (where it was undoubtedly tampered with by Sarah Palin tards*) and went to Newark, NJ. From there, it went to Missisauga, ON. That seems like a really roundabout way to travel. Why not go to Vancouver or Seattle from Anchorage? The trip would be shorter. And I wouldn't have to tell people that the iPod has travelled more than I have (well, I've never been to China. Or Alaska. Or New Jersey, for that matter.).
I missed Talk Like A Pirate day yesterday. Crap.
*Because the only people who'd vote McCain/ Palin (McPain) are tards. I follow Idletard regularly -- these are the people who are voting in the US elections. There is a strong correlation between being an American Idol fan and being (1) a Jesus freak and (2) a Republican culture war participant. The mind boggles.
I actually think that some of these tards are confusing voting in the election with voting on American Idol, which is truly frightening. Maybe they could be convinced to cast a write in vote for Sanjaya (the right to great hair would be put into the constitution, and everyone would get hair mousse).
So I ordered an iPod touch the other day (to replace the iPod that the battery's crapping out on) and I checked where it was. It left Kunshan, China on the 18th, and was last reported leaving Anchorage, AK today. I hope the Sarah Palin tards kept their grubby little hands off of it (if it blows up on me, has an evil virus, or plays a never ending stream of Clay Aiken songs, I'll know why).
I was bored at the Cube Farm today and paid a visit to one of my favourite websites, iLounge.com. (Even if they spend all their time talking about the freakin' iPhone.) There's a special Apple event on September 9th, and speculation is that Apple is planning on making some changes to iTunes/ iPods. Naturally, my desire to buy a shiny new iPod touch was rekindled. So I messaged my coworker who has an iPod touch and asked her:
Does the iPod touch come preloaded with games (solitaire, trivia, send Lord Thingy and his BFF Gordementor to Bangladesh)?
Sadly, it does not. But she thought the concept of a "send Lord Thingy and BFF to Bangladesh" was funny.
Actually, that might be a pretty good game. It could go along the lines of the Elbonian Airlines game in the Dilbert strip. Or maybe the object would be to get LT to Bangladesh and have the plane beset by delays, strikes, bad food, and freedom fighters terrorists who want to hijack the plane to, uh, Elbonia. And an in-flight movie starring Tom Arnold and Pauly Shore, or Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
I wish I knew how to code.
Apple warns of near-term iPod shortages.
I wonder if that means that I should be looking for new quotes with the word "Evil" in them.
Apple offers $45 refund on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation iPods. They had battery issues, and someone filed a lawsuit against the company. I've never actually checked how long an iPod battery charge lasts.
Although this (another lawsuit) sounds kind of dumb:
The company is still facing another lawsuit in Canada regarding iPods, filed by Montreal student David Bitton last year, over the device's memory. Bitton said his iPod Nano has only 7.45 gigabytes of memory, rather than eight GB, as advertised by Apple. His lawyer is seeking class-action status and is asking for a full refund, or a 7.5-per-cent refund of the device's $220 purchase price and $75 in damages.
He actually counted exactly how much room he had? Then again, I've never filled an iPod to capacity.
Still, I'm applying for the refund. Hopefully, the price of iPod touches will fall soon. I guess I had better start coming up with more "evil" quotes to engrave on the thing. ("Evil does not wear a bonnet?")
I think I encountered Squeaky-Voiced Teen's sister when I called Apple's tech support line this morning.
I had a problem with the iPod classic--all my podcasts were going into the "Music" folder (which is not a good thing). When I called Apple's tech support line, I asked about this problem, and added that I don't have this problem with my 4G iPod; all the podcasts go into their own little folder. The response I got was "Well, just because you can do that on an earlier iPod doesn't mean that you can do it on this one; the issue is with the device and there's nothing you can do to the iPod or to iTunes to get it to work differently. Uh, that answer is not good enough. If there's a bug with the iPod/ iTunes software, why not say so?
I restored the iPod and resynched the files and everything looks OK so far. All I have to do now is copy my sock pattern and the lyrics to "Everybody Hates Ned Flanders" back to it and everything will be fan-tidilly-tastic.
Is there a new Simpsons episode tomorrow? I sure hope so! I really miss Homer.
...who could ask for anything more?
I didn't think it would come so fast.
There was a bit of a glitch when I booted up the MacBook today--all my iTunes music was gone. Panic time! I didn't want to lose my playlists and counts and all that--the world really needs to know that the most played song on my iTunes is William Hung's "She Bangs." Fortunately, I was able to restore everything when I restarted the computer.
I love the MacBook - just tried out Front Row, which is a lot of fun (even if I can't figure out what I'm going to do with it). The only downside is that it's a bit too big; I liked the smallness of the iBook. It won't fit into the pocket of my computer bag, so now I have to put it into a sleeve and then put it into the bag.
...and notice that "Ringtones" appears on the screen.
Methinks we're getting the iPhone here one of these days. Not that it matters, since it's too expensive for me.
I bought a new MacBook and iPod classic today; hopefully, they'll last me a few years.
