Well, I finally replaced my cell phone. The old one had a perpetually crapped out battery; besides, I wanted a quad band so that I wouldn't feel left out when I go on vacation. When I was in London two years ago, every person there seemed to 1) have a cell phone and 2) spend a lot of time talking on it. Since mine didn't work there, I felt very out of place ;-). Although, given that every third person there seemed to have an iPod, maybe my iPod compensated for the lack of a cell phone.
The thing is hell to program, though. Ideally, the best way to do it would be to sync it with an existing address book. (Like you would with a Palm.) No such luck. I just spent way too much time trying to put in the number for my voice mail. Fortunately, I don't have too many numbers to put in.
I switched from a Motorola to a Sony Ericsson Z520...so far, it seems that you can't put your contacts into categories on the Sony like you could with the Motorola. I will have to reread the instruction manual.
In case anyone is wondering why I just didn't buy another Motorola phone, I couldn't find a Motorola phone that I liked; the RAZR felt too cold and the SLVR felt too wide. I tend to take feel into consideration when buying gadgets, which was why I bought a full sized iPod instead of an iPodmini two years ago, and why I bought an iPod nano in January. (Well, in the case of the nano, I liked the feel and the flash memory; I wanted something I could take out walking.)
Meh. Enough gab for today. I have an instruction manual to reread.
